Avaya Appoints Brasier as Business Director for INDeX® ProductGroup

Avaya Inc. Brasier will focus on helping small andmedium businesses take advantage of the benefits of IP telephonysuch as reduced costs and enhanced productivity through greaterfunctionality and mobility, and associated applications such ascontact centres. Also, he will be responsible for the revenues andstrategic direction of the INDeX portfolio, sold across Europe,Africa, Asia and the Pacific Rim, within Avaya's Small andMedium-sized Business Solutions (SMBS) group.

Also, he will be responsible for the revenues andstrategic direction of the INDeX portfolio, sold across Europe,Africa, Asia and the Pacific Rim, within Avaya's Small andMedium-sized Business Solutions (SMBS) group.

Based at Avaya's SMBS headquarters in Welwyn Garden City,Brasier will report to David Robinson, vice-president of Avaya'sglobal SMBS group. Brasier will drive future product strategy forAvaya's INDeX converged communications systems which have aninstalled customer base of over 1.4 million users. His role willinclude the launch and delivery of new product developments,management of the channels to market, and profitability of theINDeX range. Brasier will oversee the launch of new core softwarefor the INDEX portfolio, in addition to enhanced contact centre andIP telephony capabilities over the next month.

David Robinson commented: "We view Nick's appointment as aninvestment in the future strategy of INDeX — using his productmanagement and communications experience from 3Com and Asita.Building on 10 years of market-proven research and development,Nick will extend INDeX's market success with exciting newdevelopment plans which he will unveil to our channel partners andcustomers from July."

Brasier has over 15 years marketing and management experience.Prior to joining Avaya, he managed the security products portfolioof Asita Technologies. Before Asita, Nick spent five years at 3Comwhere latterly he was director of marketing for its WorkgroupSystems pision.

In this role, Brasier increased sales of the SuperStack productplatform to $1 billion and helped the company take the leadingposition in the workgroup networking market.

Brasier began his career at Madge Networks as a softwareengineer, following graduation from Cambridge University with an MAin Mathematics and Electrical Sciences. Also, he holds a Diploma inMarketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and anMBA from London Business School.
