Avaya Boosts "Converged Networks" with "Converged Channels"


Avaya Inc. The event was the first major BusinessPartner conference held byAvaya China since establishing its focus on Internet Protocol (IP)Telephony and Customer Relationship Management (CRM), andintegrating its voice and data communication sectors to supportthis strategy. It also marks the first time that Avaya has held alarge joint conference of both first and second tier distributors,hosting more than 110 Avaya BusinessPartners at the event.

At the conference, entitled "2004 Financial Year China RegionBusiness Partner Conference," Avaya briefed over 200representatives from BusinessPartner companies on its developmentand channel strategies as well as 2003 fiscal year results. Inaddition, joint discussions were held how to build a more efficientchannel system to better serve customers in the region.

"Avaya's strategy is to encourage enterprises to move towardconverged networks. Therefore, we need to establish a highlyefficient channel in China to help customers truly experience thebenefits of converged networks," said Zhang Hongmei, CountryChannel General Manager of Avaya China. "This conference broughttogether takes a major step towards greatly enhancing our channelprogram and establishing a team with top-grade technology andcomprehensive service."

Avaya Awards Presented
BusinessPartners who achieved outstanding results in the lastfiscal year were also presented with awards by Avaya. Eighteencompanies received the "Excellent System Integrator" award (seecomplete list below). In addition, IBM received an "HonoraryStrategic Partner" award, and Daqing Oilfield Longwall SoftwareCompany Limited received a "Special Contribution Award".

Avaya Strategy, Moves and Results Capture Participant'sAttention
Avaya's strategy and recent major moves and fiscal year resultscaptured the attention of the event's participants. Avaya ChinaRegional General Manager Liu Junling told the group that Avaya'sdevelopment strategy has been very clear, that is, committed toproviding customers with leading IP Telephony and services. Therecent measures taken by Avaya to this end have been well receivedby the market and have enabled Avaya to further cement its positionin its core business sector. Avaya also introduced its futuretechnology development strategy, and strategic planning for thedevelopment of services and SMBS business in China.

Figures from the 2003 financial year fourth quarter reveal thatAvaya is operating soundly, increasing its cash balance for thefifth straight quarter. Additionally, Avaya's stock price rose from1.93 $US (lowest in 2003) early in the year to the current 13.39$US (November 21,2003). Avaya also achieved outstanding results inChina. Apart from continually maintaining its leading position interms of CRM/contact centers, Avaya is also gaining market share inother areas. Avaya also won more big-name customers in Chinaincluding Industrial Bank, Chongqing Changan Automobile CompanyLimited, and the Jiangsu Local Taxation Bureau.
