Avaya Charges Into 2003 With Three New Sales Force Appointments

ClaudeLi Chiang has been brought on board in the newly created role ofGovernment Account Executive; Mark Wood as Small and MediumBusiness Solutions (SMBS) Channel Sales Manager for Australia andNew Zealand; and John Bowman as Account Director, MultinationalAccounts. The appointments underscore Avaya's efforts to helpcustomers across the South Pacific region improve their businessresults and signify a push by Avaya into a number of growingmarkets.

Recently a significant deal with the Department of Veteran'sAffairs for Avaya's Enterprise Class IP Solutions Portfolio(ECLIPS) demonstrated the effectiveness of the technology togovernment departments of all sizes. Mr. Li Chiang will beresponsible for developing the key areas of State and FederalGovernment, and will work in conjunction with Avaya's Practiceteams and the network of BusinessPartners to drive growth in theseimportant markets.

Prior to taking up this position with Avaya, Mr. Li Chiang wasBusiness Development Manager (Public Sector) at MCR ComputerResources. He has over 18 years experience in the communicationsindustry, and has held other senior sales roles within businessessuch as Unisys, StorageTek, AAP Communication Services andSybase.

SMBS is a highly important market for Avaya and Mr. Wood will beresponsible for the development and support of SMBS in Australiaand New Zealand. He will work in collaboration with the ConvergedSystems and Applications Group, Connectivity systems and ServicesGroups to demonstrate the effectiveness of Avaya's portfolio ofsolutions to small and medium businesses (SMB) in the South Pacificregion.

Mr. Wood comes to Avaya from UniTel Converged Distribution, aNortel Master Distribution Partner, where he was Business Manager.He has also worked in various positions at 3Com including CorporateBusiness Development — Service Provider Alliances, World WideMarket Development WAN & Voice Solutions, Director SMEMarketing Asia Pacific, and a number of national and regional salespositions. Mr. Wood has over 20 years experience in the ICTindustry.

Multinational Accounts is another significant market for Avayaand, as Account Director, Mr. Bowman will have responsibility for agroup of Multinational Accounts and actively seek new business inthis area. Mr. Bowman was previously Sales Leader and SolutionsExecutive — Telecommunications Sector at for IBM Asia Pacific, aposition he held since July 2000.

Mr. Bowman has an extensive background in the communicationsindustry with over 22 years experience in a variety of roles. Theseinclude Regional and Senior Management roles with IBM in Australiaand South Africa, and senior roles at Praxa Limited, InformationSystems Group and NCR Australia. Mr. Bowman has a Bachelor ofCommerce (Economics & Business Economics) and a Bachelor ofScience.
