Avaya Completes Acquisition of VISTA Assets

  • Engineers join Professional Services and Managed Services groupsin Avaya Global Services; Acquired software tools expandmulti-vendor service capabilities

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communicationsnetworks and services for business, today announced it hascompleted the acquisition of service delivery technologies and twobusiness units from VISTA Information Technologies Inc. Theacquisitions enhance Avaya Global Services' delivery of end-to-enddesign, implementation and management services for converged,multi-vendor networks and advanced multimedia contact centers.Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider ofcommunications networks and services for business, today announcedit has completed the acquisition of service delivery technologiesand two business units from VISTA Information Technologies Inc. Theacquisitions enhance Avaya Global Services' delivery of end-to-enddesign, implementation and management services for converged,multi-vendor networks and advanced multimedia contact centers.Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The agreement between the companies, announced on September 25,2003, calls for members of the former VISTA Professional Servicesand Managed Services units to join similar groups in Avaya GlobalServices. VISTA engineers, consulting and sales professionals joinAvaya, carrying certifications and qualifications from leadingtechnology companies including Avaya, Cisco, Nortel andMicrosoft.

Peter Licata, former CEO of VISTA, joins Avaya Global Servicesas vice president, Multi-Vendor Solutions and Strategy. He willlead and direct Avaya's continuing expansion of service offeringsand capabilities to support converged, multi-vendor networks. "Weare delighted to join Avaya Global Services," said Licata. The acquired VISTA service delivery technology assets expand therange of service tools used by Avaya Global Services, whichcurrently includes technologies such as Avaya ExpertNet™ AssessmentTool for Internet Protocol (IP) telephony readiness and AvayaEXPERT SystemsSM Diagnostic Tools, remote networkmanagement tools that support resolution of an average of 96percent of system alarms remotely. The acquired software tools willhelp streamline integration of complex multi-channel, multi-vendorcontact center networks and enhance remote network managementcapabilities.

The acquired service technology tools include:

  • Java-based software that enables "translation" between contactcenter platforms (such as Interactive Voice Response systems,communications systems, Customer Relationship Management softwareand front office and back office applications), enablingstreamlined integration across multiple types of hardware systemsand software applications in multi-vendor networks. This allowscompanies to implement more effective and integrated communicationsstrategies and information collection processes for improvedcustomer responsiveness.
  • A software tool that will offer enhanced remote monitoringcapabilities for Avaya Interaction Center, Avaya's flagshipsolution for multi-channel communications in multi-vendor,multi-protocol contact centers.
