Avaya Enterprise Connect Solutions Increase Mobility andCollaboration at Banner & Witcoff

Banner & Witcoff sought a single platform that would supportall offices and which would simplify IT management and operationsacross the firm. As a customizable set of systems, applications andservices, Avaya Enterprise Connect Solutions are designed toaddress the needs of highly collaborative companies like Banner& Witcoff. Enterprise Connect links any size office using anopen, common platform and a converged infrastructure and can beadministered and managed from a central location. Scaling across Banner & Witcoff's offices with capacity forfuture growth, Avaya MultiVantage Communications Applications is afully-integrated suite that brings together all of Avaya's IP-basedsoftware and applications, and reside at the core of the centrallymanaged, converged network. Avaya Media Servers1 andAvaya Media Gateways at each office support the extensibility ofthe applications, and enable the offices to retain fullcommunications features and functionality even if there is adisruption in the central location or wide area network.

Several features of Avaya MultiVantage CommunicationsApplications have particular relevance for a law firm. Mediaencryption keeps confidential conversations and information privatewhen transmitted over the converged network. The Avaya Extension toCellular provides "one-number reachability" by automaticallybridging attorneys' calls from their desktop phone to their cellphone, so that critical calls are received immediately even if anattorney is out of his or her office. Built-in "Meet me"conferencing can help the firm reduce audio conferencing costs byeliminating the need to involve third party services for groupcalls of up to six participants.

Avaya Unified Messaging with Avaya Unified Communication Center(UCC) Speech Access is the means by which attorneys can place acall to the system and hear voice, fax and/or email messages readto them and immediately request a response to be sent, check orbook appointments in their MicroSoft™ Outlook calendars. Thisapplication also enables employees to work more efficiently byallowing them to name those messages they want or need to hearfirst, and saving others for a more convenient time. UnifiedMessaging allows the firm's attorneys to manage voice mail fromanywhere using the firm's extensive remote access options.

The Avaya Integrated Management portfolio enables Costello's ISdepartment to manage the firm's converged network from a singlelocation, allowing them to monitor and optimize servers and voiceover Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic, plus set Quality of Service(QoS) policies2. Banner & Witcoff has also providedAvaya IP Telephones for desktops and laptops to each of the firm's200+ employees. Attorneys utilize the "soft phone," afully-functional software-based telephone, from their laptops overthe firm's VPN to place calls when working outside of a firmoffice.
