Avaya Gains IP Telephony Leadership Positions in U.S. and WorldwideMarkets

The latestmarket information on this emerging technology was published byindustry analyst firms InfoTech and Synergy Research Group,reflecting the U.S. and worldwide markets, respectively.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider ofcommunications networks and services for businesses, todayannounced that it has gained the leadership position in both theU.S. and worldwide enterprise Internet protocol (IP) telephonymarkets. The latest market information on this emerging technologywas published by industry analyst firms InfoTech and SynergyResearch Group, reflecting the U.S. and worldwide markets,respectively.

The research, compiled for the first calendar quarter of 2003,represents total IP line shipments, a key metric of measuring IPtelephony leadership in the enterprise telephony market. Accordingto the InfoTech report, InfoTrack for EnterpriseCommunications, Avaya's U.S. market share in IP telephony is 22percent, representing an increase of four percentage points overthe final quarter of 2002. Avaya is one of the fastest growingcompanies in the emerging IP telephony space, having increased itsU.S. IP telephony shipments by 182 percent from the same period in2002, more than double the industry rate. In the worldwide arena,according to the Synergy Research Group report Enterprise VoIPWorldwide Market Shares*, Avaya leads with a 22 percent shareof the total enterprise IP telephony market.
