The Korean subsidiary of Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading globalprovider of communications networks and services for businesses, announced that the company and its BusinessPartner, Innovis, hassuccessfully completed deploying Gigabit networks for SportsChosun, a leading local sports daily newspaper.

With the deployment of an additional Avaya P580 Gigabit BackboneSwitch, Sports Chosun has improved the network bandwidth betweenbackbone switches and workgroup switches from 100Mps to 1Gbps,which enhances users' productivity. Also a redundant networkconfiguration allows the newspaper company to operate a more stableand reliable network. Of special note, the network was upgraded toa Gigabit network environment by simply adding Gigabit modules tothe existing Avaya P120 Switches. Accordingly, the company was ableto significantly reduce costs for network upgrade, while securingprevious investment in the network.

For Sports Chosun's network, Avaya distributed workgroupswitches on each of the two backbone switches to process theincreasing data traffic faster and configured 'link aggregationgroup' between the two backbones to share network information. Inparticular, the redundant network configuration enables seamlesscommunication even in the event of system failure, providingbusiness continuity.
