Avaya Korea Forges Strategic Alliance On Wireless Security WithExers Technologies

Avaya Korea Ltd, the Korean subsidiary of Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), aleading global provider of communications networks and services forbusinesses, today announced that it has exchanged an MOU tocooperate with Exers Technologies, a local wireless securitysolution provider, in the wireless LAN security field.

Through this strategic alliance, Avaya and Exers Technologieswill embark on a joint marketing effort for a wireless networksolution with enhanced security features, thereby reinforcing bothcompanies' positions in the wireless LAN market where security isemerging as an important issue.

Dong Ho Yoo, CEO of Exers Technologies, said: "A wireless LANnetwork, based on IEEE 802.11 standard, does not have a strong userauthentication feature and as the vulnerabilities of the WEP (WiredEquivalent Privacy) algorithm have been identified, the network iseven weaker in terms of security". He added, "The IEEE 802.1xwireless security standard, which was developed to fix suchproblems, has a strong user authentication feature and supportsDynamic WEP Key, thereby strengthening security. Avaya and ExersTechnologies plan to provide a more secure wireless LAN solution byoffering solutions that support IEEE 802.1x standard."

Under the strategic partnership, Avaya Korea will provide thewireless LAN solution and Exers Technologies will provide thewireless LAN security solution. The two companies will cooperateactively with the aim to offer wireless LAN solutions with thehighest level of security in the industry.

Furthermore, the strategic partnership will allow both companiesto strengthen their competitiveness in the domestic market byrapidly providing solutions, such as Korean language support andfirmware upgrades that match the domestic wireless environment.
