Avaya Strengthens Greater China Senior Management Team withIndustry Veterans

Avaya (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of communicationsnetworks and services for businesses, today announced theappointment of Liu Junling as Vice President and General Manager ofAvaya China; and Timothy Mak as Country Director for Hong Kong andTaiwan. In addition Mak will be Director of Applications in GreaterChina.

In addition Mak will be Director of Applications in GreaterChina.

Liu has extensive experience in the IT and Telecommunicationsindustries, while Mak has 14 years of experience in InformationTechnology, covering sales, product marketing, and businessdevelopment.

They will strategise marketing plans for Avaya to furtherdevelop and expand sales and business opportunities by offering toChinese companies solutions that will help them reduce cost, lowerrisk and grow revenue.

Liu and Mak will lead Avaya to strengthen its foothold in theGreater China market, particularly in two growth areas — IPconvergence business that includes IP telephony, IP Contact Centre,Data and Wireless and the CRM (customer relationship management)business that primarily includes software solutions for MultiChannel Contact Centres.

"I will focus on helping Chinese businesses to excel and grow,quickly and cost effectively, with Avaya technology, especially inhelping them better manage their end customers. The end goal is tohelp our customers become more profitable and competitive, by fullyrealizing the benefits of Convergence and CRM and" said Liu.

Prior to this appointment, Liu was responsible for Avaya's Smalland Medium Business Solutions (SMBS) group in Asia Pacific basedout of Hong Kong. Liu will continue to oversee the SMBS business inChina in his new position.

Liu came to Avaya from Openwave Systems, where he was Area VicePresident for Channel Sales and Alliances across Asia Pacific. Hisresponsibilities included driving revenue through partners such asIBM, Cisco, Siemens, Lucent Technologies and Accenture. He alsoworked at Lucent Technologies Wireless Networks Group.

Liu is a native Chinese and he has years of experiences workingand living in Australia, Singapore, US, and Hong Kong. He brings akeen eye and cultural understanding to business relationships anddecision-making. Liu has Master of International Business degreefrom Flinders University of Australia. He will be based inShanghai, China.

Timothy Mak was the general manager for Avaya's CRM businessunit for the Greater China region based in Hong Kong before takingthis new assignment. His achievements included business strategiesthat drove Avaya to being the number one supplier in the GreaterChina CRM space. He successfully secured service provider customerssuch as China Unicom, China Mobile, Standard Chartered Bank, FarEast Tone, and Chung Hua Telecom. Mak also worked in the Avaya USHeadquarters as the 'International Program Director' for IPsolutions.

Before Avaya, Mak was the sales director for Hong Kong in theBusiness Communications Systems group of Lucent Technologies. Inthis role he was responsible for the overall Hong Kong businessincluding DEFINITY® Enterprise Communication Server, CRM, and CallCenter Solutions to key customers and channel partners. Hisexperience includes general management, sales, product marketing,and business development.

Before joining Lucent Technologies, Mak was holding a salesmanagement position for Hong Kong with NCR. Mak led the team thatwas responsible for all 'Self Service Solution' in Hong Kong andmanage Global Accounts for international deployment. His trackrecord includes securing more than 98% market share in the HongKong 'Self Service Solution' market.

ak is a native Chinese and has working experience in the US& Australia. He is a graduate of the University of London andmajored in Computing Industry. He will be based in Hong Kong.
