ITFOR Promotes Avaya's IP Telephony Solutions

Avaya Japan Ltd. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, presidentTakao Sugai) will start proactive sales promotion of Avaya's IPtelephony portfolio called ECLIPS (Enterprise Class IP Solutions)powered by Avaya MultiVantage™ software. At the same time, ITFORchose ECLIPS for its communication infrastructure. As shifting topaperless business operations, ITFOR expects to improve itsbusiness such as enabling flexible seat assignment and reducingoperational costs by leveraging various advantages from IP-phones.

To enter the growing IP telephony market, ITFOR will positionAvaya's market-leading IP telephony products as the core productsof ITFOR's converged solutions and provide them to customers inJapan.

ITFOR decided to have IP telephony for its communicationinfrastructure and chose ECLIPS portfolio in conjunction with themove to its new premises. Among the portfolio, ITFOR has installedAvaya MultiVantage™ Software, Avaya™ S8700 Media Server, and 250sets of Avaya™ 4620 IP Telephone. ITFOR were able to built IPtelephony infrastructure using its existing local area networkbecause of interoperability of ECLIPS, which can work with LANswitches from vendors other than Avaya.

The figures — supplied byInfoTech's recent InfoTrack for Enterprise Communications Reportfor the third quarter of 2002 — showed that Avaya took theleadership position in the U.S. overall IP-PBX market, with totalshipments up by 169 percent from the third quarter of 2001 to thethird quarter of 2002.

Also, Avaya now ranks number two worldwide — with 22 percent ofthe overall IP telephony market — according to global figuresprovided by Synergy Research Group's report on Enterprise Voiceover IP (VoIP).
