Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading provider of communicationsnetworks and services for businesses, today announced a new seriesof online forums designed to help businesses reduce costs, lowerrisk and grow revenues.

The first forum, available in English, Spanish and Portuguese, begins Tuesday, May 20, and will focus on a range of communicationsolutions and applications that can be used to reduce costs — fromtelephony and converged networks to contact centers, unifiedcommunication and global services. Entitled "Reach > ReducedCosts," the session will feature insight from Avaya executives,as well as news, analysis and perspective from InformationWeekmagazine and industry analyst Nick Lippis.

In addition, Avaya customers such as the Seattle Times, JetBlueAirways, Grant Thornton and the National Basketball Associationwill share their experiences in using communications technology toreduce costs and improve bottom-line results.

"Today's communication solutions have the power to cut costs forbusinesses by creating efficiencies in both voice and datacommunications," said Nick Lippis, president of Lippis Consulting."This is especially true of converged solutions that support voiceand data applications on a single infrastructure. In fact, movingto a converged infrastructure can reduce total cost of ownership by50% or more."

Avaya customer Grant Thornton, a leading global accounting, taxand business advisory firm serving the needs of middle-marketcompanies, lowered its communication costs by using Avaya IPtelephony solutions to make it easier and more efficient formultisite teams to communicate seamlessly with each other. WithAvaya⬢s network in place, Grant Thornton routed voice traffic overits wide area network to eliminate toll charges, reduce networkmanagement requirements and consolidate its standalone systems intohubs. This was achieved without replacing the firm⬢s extensiveinvestment in existing digital phones.

"When Grant Thornton chose Avaya to upgrade its unifiedcommunication capabilities, our company found more than a qualitysolution," said Kevin Lopez, national manager of telecommunicationsat Grant Thornton. "We also found substantial cost savings throughlower server costs."
