R/D Tech Selects Avaya's Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony andConverged Infrastructure Solutions

Avaya's scaleable, converged infrastructure solutions, networkmanagement software and IP phones will help the company simplifynetwork management and integrate communications capabilities withkey business processes. Before the company had Avaya IP solutions,it was difficult for staff members to move freely around theoffice, a necessity in a development company. Now, employees canlogin to their IP telephones from any data port and move aroundwithout intervention from a system administrator. In addition, theAvaya solutions have enabled R/D Tech to reduce the number ofsuppliers with whom they need to work with.

Avaya's BusinessPartner, Quebec Telecommunication Inc.,implemented the wall-to-wall Avaya converged network solution,including:

  • an Avaya™ P882 MultiService switch, which supports the highlevels of performance, resiliency and Quality of Service necessaryfor converged network backbones
  • a series of Avaya™ P330 Stackable Switching Systems to provideflexible and scalable wiring closet support for IP telephones andother IP endpoints
  • Avaya VisAbility™ Management Suite, that allows users to manageand monitor complex network infrastructures though a commonWeb-based user interface


In addition, R/D Tech is installing 225 Avaya™ 4600 Series IPphones, which are capable of routing calls over a data network todecrease costs, and streamline voice and data onto one network toensure easier network management and maintenance.

The IP phones will work with the company's IP-enabled, AvayaDEFINITY® Communication Server, helping to protect investments inexisting equipment.
