Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV) a leading global provider of communicationsnetworks and services for businesses, today announced that 2UE, oneof Sydney's largest talk-back (talk-show) radio stations, hasselected Avaya to help provide a unique caller management systemthat smooths on-air telephony management processes for talk-backheavy programs such as 2UE's Breakfast, Morning and Driveshows.

The new solution integrates Avaya's IP Office with BroadcastBionic's PhoneBOX, a broadcast call-handling system developedspecifically for radio and television stations. The solution wassold and implemented by Avaya BusinessPartner, Techtel.

Details of callers are displayed onscreen for both the producerand on-air talent to see, enabling full control over caller queues.Comprehensive built-in databases allow instant reporting of callerhistory, including details of when the caller last appeared on thestation, which program they called for and if they won a prize.

When a caller is likely to be on-hold for an extended period, the producer can utilise the "call back" feature. After enteringrelevant details, the caller can hang-up and the producer or on-airtalent can call them back when they are ready to be put to air.PhoneBOX retains their call details on screen throughout thisprocess.

The Avaya IP Office/PhoneBOX solution is also suitable for radiostations which run large competitions or other caller-initiatedprograms.

"The flexibility and functions will bring immediate benefits toboth the on-air team and our callers," said Alastair Reynolds,Chief Engineer, Radio Station 2UE. "2UE can have up to 20 callersat any one time, more than double that of other radio stations. TheAvaya IP Office integrated solution has provided us with areliable, highly functional, easy-to-use system to manage on-aircalls."

Avaya IP Office is an "all-in-one" converged voice and datasystem for small and mid-sized businesses that delivers an array ofcommunications applications including voicemail, conferencing, contact centre, Internet access and more. Broadcast Bionics'PhoneBOX delivers a range of functions that benefit both the radiostation and its callers.

"The solution also gathers information that allows us to measurethe success of particular advertising campaigns, said Reynolds. "Webelieve that PhoneBOX is the only product on the market today thatmeets the stringent needs of large talk-back radio stations at acost-effective price. We have always valued our relationship withTechtel and are very impressed with the latest Avaya solution theydelivered."

2UE has taken full advantage of the low cost of the serviceoffering and purchased a complete duplicate system to providebackup and redundancy. "Broadcast Bionics' software expertise andunderstanding of the specific needs of broadcast telephony, combined with Avaya's excellent IP Office standard features, capitalises perfectly on the strengths of both companies indelivering a world-class solution without peer.
