(NYSE: AV), a leading global provider ofcommunications networks and services for business, today announcedthat Totten Sims Hubicki Associates (TSH), a multi-disciplinaryconsulting engineering company, has implemented Avaya MultiVantage™Communications Applications1 at its Whitby, Ontarioheadquarters. As part of Avaya Enterprise Connect Solutions, thenew communications applications links two key TSH offices, allowingthem to improve client service and workforce collaboration. Inaddition, the solutions protect TSH's investments in previouscommunications technology and support the company's expansion planswith a low total cost of ownership over the long term.

TSH relies heavily on its communications system for client andassociate collaboration during the design and execution of largepublic and private sector architecture and engineering projectsacross North America and as well as internationally. During recentprojects, such as the Cross Israel Highway and Toronto's Highway407, both TSH Whitby offices were heavily involved in the designand planning process. With road and structural design expertshoused in separate TSH offices, the requirement of secure, reliableand efficient communications was dramatically heightened. Inaddition to the team's internal communication needs, they also haveto be in constant contact with their clients, and in the case ofthe Cross Israel project, a consortium of other engineering andconsulting firms across the world. The new Avaya solution supportsincreased internal and external collaboration, with a host offeatures such as six party meet-me conferencing, media encryption,extension-to-cellular, and call transfer or four-digit dialingamong locations.

"The Avaya solution allows our offices and 40 remote users tooperate as though we are all working under the same roof. Thathelps us work more efficiently and better serve our clients," saidKam Mohammed, TSH's manager of information technology. "Afterlooking at the available options we chose Avaya because all of thefeatures we were seeking were standard on its telephony andvoicemail applications. They were also the only vendor to enable usto save dramatically on implementation costs by capitalizing onsome of our existing infrastructure."

The company also saves on management and administration costs,since there is now a single network that can be managed andadministered from one location, and provides a number ofcommunications features that are appreciated by the staff.

"TSH staff members have recognized a number of benefits since weimplemented the system," said Mohammed. "For example, everyonelikes the increase in the number of features of the voicemailmessaging system such as; one button access, the ability to set-upa series of extensions for message forwarding, and an increase inthe number of programmable messages. As well, there are additionalbenefits such as the ease of call transfers, enhanced pagingfeatures, simplified conference calls, and call display."

TSH is planning to expand Avaya network to include its othereight offices across Ontario and help shape its expansion plans forthe future. With the scalable Avaya solution, the company caneasily and cost-effectively add employee extensions and will beable to smoothly evolve to full IP telephony without major upheavalwhen the time comes.

TSH worked with Avaya BusinessPartner, BrantTel Networksto implement the Avaya Communication Manager for Internet Protocol(IP) Telephony.
