Avaya Adds LAN Systems as an Avaya BusinessPartner for Small/MediumBusiness Solutions

02-24-2004
  • Agreement will enable more small and medium-sized business customers to access communications solutions that are tailored to their needs

Avaya announced that it has appointed LAN Systems, a distributor of integrated network and communications solutions, as its second value added distributor in Australia.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV) a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, today announced that it has appointed LAN Systems, a distributor of integrated network and communications solutions, as its second value added distributor in Australia. Under the terms of the agreement, LAN Systems will distribute Avaya's Small and Medium Business Solutions (SMBS) IP telephony products across Australia.

The new partnership will strengthen LAN Systems' SMBS solution portfolio to meet the market demand for IP telephony and complements Avaya's push to expand its distribution channel by taking advantage of LAN Systems' large base of data resellers.

"This new partnership is our next move in providing IP and converged solutions to SMB customers," said Mark Wood, sales director, Small and Medium Business Solutions Group, Avaya, Asia Pacific & Japan. "With LAN Systems, more customers will have access to one of the industry's leading solutions that has been designed to meet the communications challenges facing SMBs today."

"The partnership will provide great education for LAN Systems' data resellers in voice and data convergence, which is one of the fastest growing areas in IT today. It will also reinforce Avaya's strong position in the Australian small to medium IP telephony and convergence market," Wood said.

Avaya's SMBS IP telephony portfolio includes Avaya IP Office, a fully scalable solution that can be deployed as a voice solution, employing IP technology, traditional telephony, or a combination of both with a comprehensive set of telephony features. Avaya IP Office can also be used as a data solution to deliver both local area and wide area networking capability and can be deployed across a number of locations with one central management point.

Avaya also recently announced the availability of Avaya IP Office - Small Office Edition, a new communication system that delivers big-business capabilities to small and home offices, and branch offices of industries such as retail, real estate, education and government.

Designed for up to 28 users, it provides smaller businesses with the types of features - such as built-in firewall for network security, Internet access, wireless connectivity, advanced messaging capabilities, and three-way calling - usually available only with larger, more complex systems.
