Avaya Bags Top Industry Award

05-27-2004
  • Telecommunication service provider executives, analysts and media in Asia Pacific select Avaya as the Asia Pacific ICRM Vendor of the Year for its outstanding performance in 2003

Avaya received the Asia Pacific ICRM Vendor of the Year award, at the "Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Technology Awards 2004" gala dinner, in the inaugural event to recognize the market contributions of leading companies in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) industry.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV) a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, today received the Asia Pacific ICRM Vendor of the Year award, at the "Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Technology Awards 2004" gala dinner hosted by the research consulting company, in the inaugural event to recognize the market contributions of leading companies in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) industry.

The winners of the "Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Technology Awards 2004" were determined by Frost & Sullivan's continuous research on Asia Pacific telecommunications industry and the deliberations of a panel of judges constituting senior analysts, media and executives from telecommunication vendors and service providers selected depending on the different award categories. The judging criteria are based on market share growth, revenue growth, and product and service innovations for 2003. A total of 24 awards were given out.

Avaya won the award due to three major factors: Firstly, Avaya has had the highest market share for more than three consecutive years, maintaining its leadership with almost a third of the total ICRM market; Secondly, the company's license revenue is almost double of its closest competitor; Lastly, it has seen a strong market share growth from 2002 to 2003.

"Winning this award has further enhanced our market position as the leader in ICRM and also says much about the quality of Avaya communications systems, software applications and services," said Mark Leigh, president of Avaya Asia Pacific.

The Asia Pacific ICRM market is expected to reach US$1.13 billion by 2007, according to Frost & Sullivan and Avaya continues to dominate the space with more than 31 per cent of the entire market. In 2003, the ICRM market performed well, with an estimated annual market revenue of US$620.6 million.

"We have seen 2003 as a 'comeback' year for many companies who had to weather a difficult 2002," said Manoj Menon, Partner at Frost & Sullivan. "This award is testimony of the untiring efforts of the Avaya team and their position as a market leader in 2003, and to receive the ICRM vendor of the year award will set a high standard for the market to follow," he added.

Leigh attributes the Avaya success to their customer-centric approach to business: "Our value proposition is that we know how to work with our customers assisting them as they evolve their networks using the latest technology, at a path and pace of their choice, and providing the best returns on investments (ROI)."
