  • Avaya solution helps the company to optimize infrastructure, raise efficiency and cut costs.

Avaya announced that it has successfully deployed a converged communication system for AsiaInfo, a leading provider of high-quality software and solutions in China.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, recently announced that it has successfully deployed a converged communication system for AsiaInfo (Nasdaq: ASIA), a leading provider of high-quality software and solutions in China.

Taking advantage of the most advance technologies in the industry, the Avaya solution has allowed more mobility for the staff of AsiaInfo, and enabled AsiaInfo to raise work efficiency and cut costs. Products adopted include Avaya S8300 Media Server/G700 Media Gateway, Avaya P330 switching system, as well as Avaya 4602 IP Telephone and Avaya IP Softphone.

AsiaInfo, headquartered in Beijing with about 1000 staff, was moving a big part of its operation to new office premises. For the communication system, it was looking for a solution that integrates leading converged communication technologies and which can truly benefit its business. The new system must also connect in a very stable way with the existing one in the old office premises.

"AsiaInfo has been attaching great importance to the construction of its IT and communication infrastructure. An advance MIS system can enable us to effectively raise efficiency and control costs. We see this as one core competence of AsiaInfo," said Mr. Wang Yugong, MIS manger of AsiaInfo. "Avaya was chosen for this project owing to its rich experiences in telephony systems and the rich features of its products. As a company who focuses on providing communication solutions that converge voice and data, Avaya has demonstrated convincingly its expertise in this field."

The Avaya S8300 Media Server can closely integrate with Avaya G700 Media Gateway and Avaya P330, a stackable switching system, providing customers with a unified, highly flexible, and fault tolerant telephony and data solution. The integrated multimedia mailbox system can easily meet the demands for running mission critical telephony applications.

Communication becomes easier and more convenient with Avaya IP Softphone. By simply clicking a button on the PC or Laptop, employees working out of the office can easily use IP Softphone to get access to the rich features brought about by Avaya Communication Manager, the core telephony software from Avaya.

Wang Yugong said: "The new system is very convenient to use. Mobile working and IP Softphone have given employees a fresh working experience and enhanced our efficiency. The two office premises share the same extension system and the connection is extremely stable. The new voice mailbox system operates smoothly. By deploying Avaya converged communication solution, the company has simplified system management, optimized network configuration, and greatly reduced costs."

"Our performance in the AsiaInfo project further attests to the strength and expertise of Avaya in the field of converged communications," said Chen Wei, System Engineer Director of Avaya China. "Avaya is seeking to build win-win relations with our customers in China. We will continue to introduce innovative communication solutions to the market to help customers grow."
