Avaya Promotes Adoption of Converged Networks Among China's Mid-sized Enterprises

  • Special program announced to help customers deploy converged networks in an easy and affordable way

Avaya recently announced a program in China to help the mid-sized enterprises deploy converged voice and data networks.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, recently announced a program in China to help the mid-sized enterprises deploy converged voice and data networks. The program includes special pricing for a package comprising Avaya Communication Manager IP telephony software, Avaya S8500 Media Server and Avaya G650 Media Gateway, as well as preferential conditions in terms of order placing, implementation, and services. This program is available until November 30 of 2004, and targets businesses with 300 to 600 employees.

The converged voice and data network market has been growing rapidly over the past three years. According to Frost & Sullivan, the Asia Pacific IP telephony market will reach US$420.6 million this year from US$294.1 million in 2003, representing a growth of more than 43 percent.

Mid-sized enterprises show increasing demand for IP telephony, driven in part by the need to manage the multi-site operations. According to McKinsey analysis, businesses with 200 to 500 employees have 5.9 sites on average. This distributed structure calls for converged communications technologies to help simplify management, reduce costs and raise efficiency. The mid-sized companies also turn to converged communications technologies to increase mobility and enhance customer service. After deploying Avaya solutions, AsiaInfo, a leading provider of high-quality software and solutions in China, enables its employees working out of the office to easily get access to the rich features brought about by Avaya Communication Manager.

"Avaya converged communications solutions have been deployed across industries in China's large enterprises," said Zhang Hongmei, Channel General Manager of Avaya China. "With this program, Avaya aims to help mid-sized companies quickly begin achieving the same benefits at a very attractive price point from Avaya technologies, and facilitate the rapid development of converged networks in China."

Fully supported by Avaya Communication Manager software, the package offers the flexibility, reliability and availability that growing companies will find beneficial. The package easily integrates both circuit-switched and IP telephony environments - which can eliminate the need to run separate systems for traditional systems or remove existing equipment for companies migrating to IP telephony at their own pace.

Avaya will help partners and customers acquire a good understanding of Avaya technologies and solutions through a variety of activities including training, seminar, email, direct mailing, etc. Measures will also be taken in terms of order placing, implementation and services so that mid-sized companies can deploy converged networks in a most convenient way.

"The Avaya solution integrates advanced communications features designed for mid-sized enterprises, and will be tailored to the needs of inpidual users. I am convinced that they will bring the best communications value to customers in China and help them to grow in the market," said Zhang Hongmei.
