Avaya Small And Medium Business Solutions Expands Team With NewAsia Pacific Appointment

Avaya announced the appointment of Andy Hurt as the new Asia Pacific Small and Medium Business Solutions (SMBS) Marketing Manager for Avaya.

Avaya Inc., (NYSE:AV) a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, today announced the appointment of Andy Hurt as the new Asia Pacific Small and Medium Business Solutions (SMBS) Marketing Manager for Avaya.

Based in Sydney, Hurt will use his proven management and communication skills to ensure that Avaya's SMBS team continues to meet the needs of small and medium businesses across the region. Hurt will also assist in achieving increased growth for Avaya SMBS within the Asia Pacific small to medium business channel.

Over the past six months, Hurt has been working alongside the Avaya SMBS team as a marketing contractor. During this time he also operated a marketing consulting business, working in key sectors such as telecommunications, security and multimedia.

Prior to this, Hurt was the Asia Pacific Regional SME marketing leader for 3Com, where he worked for over eight years. His experience also includes various roles at Infotron and Bull HN Information Systems.

Avaya's SMBS team is responsible for managing a variety of products and services tailored to the needs of the SME market, ensuring customers harvest good returns on their technology investments. The Avaya SMBS portfolio includes Avaya IP Office, a fully scalable solution that can be deployed as a voice solution, employing IP technology, traditional telephony or a combination of both with a comprehensive set of telephony features. Avaya IP Office can also be used as a data solution to deliver both local area and wide area networking capability and can be deployed across a number of locations with one central management point.

Avaya also recently announced the availability of Avaya IP Office - Small Office Edition, a new communication system that delivers big-business capabilities to small and home offices, and branch offices of industries such as retail, real estate, education and government.

Designed for up to 28 users, it provides smaller businesses with the types of features - such as built-in firewall for network security, Internet access, wireless connectivity, advanced messaging capabilities, and three-way calling - usually available only with larger, more complex systems.
