Avaya Strengthens SMB Distribution with Nimans

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, today announced the appointment of Nimans as a distributor for IP Office in the UK, effective from October 2004. Nimans has established links with over 3,000 resellers that support the communication needs of organisations with less than 50 users — a key growth area for sales of IP Office, Avaya's 'all-in-one' office communication system offering IP telephony and integrated communication applications for small and medium-sized businesses. This appointment will complement Avaya's existing distributors and achieve a stronger balance in the size of its end user customers in the UK.

Nimans has established links with over 3,000 resellers that support the communication needs of organisations with less than 50 users — a key growth area for sales of IP Office, Avaya's 'all-in-one' office communication system offering IP telephony and integrated communication applications for small and medium-sized businesses. This appointment will complement Avaya's existing distributors and achieve a stronger balance in the size of its end user customers in the UK.

Nimans is established as one of the largest distributors of telephony products to smaller organisations in the UK and is respected for its knowledge of the sub-50 line market. According to Avaya market intelligence*, telephony for organisations with less than 50 employees in the UK is worth $125 million in 2004. Previously, Avaya has not dealt with many of Nimans' resellers so the partnership will open up a new channel.

Based in Manchester, Nimans has become an authorised distributor and will offer customers support and service with dedicated pre and post sales and technical support for resellers.

Richard Pitt, sales director for Avaya's Small and Medium-size Business Solutions group in the UK and Ireland said, "I am confident that Nimans will help us serve customers with sub-50 lines — a key market segment for IP Office — by establishing links with new resellers. Nimans' background is in telephony — for example it is the largest distributor of telephony headsets in Europe — and Avaya's heritage is in telephony too, so there will be a lot of synergy with our two organisations."

Richard Carter, Nimans' sales and marketing director said: "We have been very impressed with the interest in Avaya IP Office from existing and potential new resellers. Our shipments in the first month are twice what we expected. We've hit the ground running with the first appointment to our in-house Avaya Business Unit of Alan Elston as Avaya Technical Specialist. Alan is an acknowledged technical expert in the IP Office product range with over eight years' experience covering engineering, technical training and sales. We will shortly be appointing a Business Manager to initiate a dealer recruitment programme and grow the channel."

Also, Nimans will be able to take advantage of Avaya's Business Partner programme, which includes joint marketing, a certification framework, collaboration between partners and full managerial support from Avaya.
