Avaya Strengthens UK and Ireland Operations to Better ServeCustomers


Avaya announced it has strengthened its UK and Ireland management team with the appointment of Deborah Robertson as marketing director and John van der Linde as director of converged applications.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, today announced it has strengthened its UK and Ireland management team with the appointment of Deborah Robertson as marketing director and John van der Linde as director of converged applications. Both will report directly to Clive Sawkins, Avaya's vice-president for the UK and Ireland and will be based at the company's UK and Ireland headquarters in Guildford. The appointments underscore Avaya's commitment to help customers implement and reap the benefits of IP telephony and converged communication.

Robertson is to lead the UK and Ireland marketing team to build further Avaya's growth in the region. This will involve developing the brand, customer loyalty, channels to market and new business. Also, her remit includes telemarketing and Avaya's Business Convergence Centre in Guildford. The Centre which hosts visits by over 3,000 customers each year, aims to further understanding of how organisations can develop business convergence to improve customer relationships, reduce costs and gain competitive advantage. Also, the Centre showcases Avaya's current and future converged communication systems and services.

Robertson has over 10 years experience in IT and telecommunications marketing. She is a member of the Marketing Society; and a fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing including being a member of its newly formed Business-to-Business Council. Her previous role was head of marketing communications for BT Business, where she helped build the BT Business brand and lead partnership activity and customer relationships. Prior to BT, Robertson worked for Dell and ntl.

Van Der Linde fills a new role as director of Avaya's converged applications business where he will look after software applications which leverage IP telephony and help customers increase productivity and reduce cost. These include unified communication, predictive dialling, as well as intelligent contact routing and multimedia contact centres to enhance customer service. His responsibility will include identifying the next generation of IP telephony applications and helping Avaya's direct and indirect channels to implement them for the benefit of customers. Van Der Linde is responsible for leading a team of consultants in the UK and Ireland and build further Avaya's market share in converged applications. He is a member of the Middle East Contact Centre Association for the Middle East.

Previously, Van Der Linde held a variety of business development and management roles within Avaya and has been with the company since its creation in 2000. His previous roles include: managing director of Avaya's business in the Middle East based in Dubai; and regional director of applications for Central and Eastern Europe and Middle East Africa.
