Avaya VP Named 2004 "Corporate Woman of the Year" by Colorado-Based Women'sVision Foundation

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, today announced that Susan Bailey, the company's vice president of global strategic accounts has been named 2004 "Corporate Woman of the Year" by the Women'sVision Foundation — a Colorado-based professional organization dedicated to advancing women in corporate leadership.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, today announced that Susan Bailey, the company's vice president of global strategic accounts has been named 2004 "Corporate Woman of the Year" by the Women'sVision Foundation — a Colorado-based professional organization dedicated to advancing women in corporate leadership.

The award recognizes Bailey for providing inspiration, opportunities and recognition for women, for fostering teamwork and trust, and for mentoring and promoting women to leadership positions. She will be recognized today during the foundation's annual leadership conference at Denver's Adams Mark Hotel, an event which is expected to draw 1,000 women from across the state. Keynote speaker will be Carolyn Kepcher, chief operating officer and general manager of Trump National Golf Club and a star of the hit reality series "The Apprentice."

In her role at Avaya, Bailey leads a team of more than 1,000 employees and has accountability for the company's largest and most strategic account relationships, including those with financial services companies, retailers, manufacturers, distributors, service providers, systems integrators and the federal government.

A highly accomplished technology executive with 22 years of management experience, Bailey has a solid reputation for increasing sales and gross margins, developing and growing new business segments, designing innovative marketing strategies, redefining business processes and controlling expenses. She also is a sought-after speaker and recently headlined the fall 2004 Internet Telephony Conference and Expo in Los Angeles, Calif.

Prior to joining Avaya, Bailey held sales, marketing, management and executive positions at IBM, StorageTek, En Pointe Technologies and Intelligent Electronics.

Raised in California, she graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science and attended the INSEAD Executive Management Institute in Fountainbleau, France. She makes her home in Greenwood Village, Colo., with husband Steve and children Nick and Katie.
