Avaya to Showcase the Benefits of IP Telephony at Telexpo 2004

  • Will launch new Small Office and Communications Manager Solutions; Extends exclusive offer for companies to migrate to IP Telephony

Avaya announced that its participation in Telexpo 2004 will focus on demonstrating the business benefits of IP Telephony through the launch of several new solutions.

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communication networks and services for businesses, today announced that its participation in Telexpo 2004 will focus on demonstrating the business benefits of IP Telephony through the launch of several new solutions.

One of the new solutions that will be introduced at the event is Avaya IP Office - Small Office Edition, a new communication system that delivers big-business capabilities to small and home offices, and branch offices of industries such as retail, real estate, education, and government. This new solution, which is designed for up to 28 users, provides smaller firms with the types of business features - such as built-in firewall for network security, Internet access, wireless connectivity, advanced messaging capabilities, and three-way calling - that are usually available only with larger, more complex systems. All of these practical, converged voice and data business communications features are encompassed in one compact unit that enables businesses to manage their communications from a laptop or personal computer.

Avaya will also use Telexpo to highlight IP Migration services that help customers make the transition to IP telephony more quickly and easily. The IP Migration offer allows customers to migrate to IP Telephony while protecting existing investments in telephony systems and applications. Avaya Global Services (AGS) oversees the IP migration process for companies, serving as a single point of accountability for design, implementation and management of IP communications networks. Services experts address issues including quality of service, investment protection and security in developing solutions that enable companies to take advantage of the efficiencies and advanced capabilities offered by IP networking and applications.

Another new solution that will launched at Telexpo is Avaya Communication Manager 2.0, the new version of the company's flagship IP telephony software, which includes a new generation of market-leading software applications, media servers and gateways for small, medium and large enterprises, and a full range of desktop and wireless IP telephones. Communication Manager increases security with new support for the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), protecting voice conversations carried on converged networks in an open standards environment. Additionally, new IP signaling encryption defends enterprises against hacker attempts and those seeking to steal confidential information transmitted between a headquarters and a branch office. The security features of Communication Manager are part of an overall security solution that includes Avaya's worldwide services organization - Avaya Global Services - that provides network assessment and security consulting for IP solutions in multi-vendor environments.

Visitors to Avaya's booth will also see a demo of an Avaya Interactive Voice Response IP solution. This solution is software-based and runs on a Sun platform with an IP telephony connection and is compatible with VoiceXML development patterns, allowing total integration to the web. Avaya offers voice self-service solutions because they represent the most efficient means to increase the level of customer service without adding head count and other additional costs in a contact center.

238 square-meter stand will feature four areas
Avaya will have a 238-square-meter booth at Telexpo, which will function as a real-time lab for the converged networks supplied by the company. The booth will be pided into four areas: IP Telephony, Contact Center Solutions, Converged Network Infrastructure, and Services.

In the Avaya Global Services area, visitors will be able to see the network monitoring of the communication infrastructure of the Avaya booth. Avaya's stand #20 is located at Row B of the Red Pavilion.
