Korea Leadership Center Offers High Quality Tele-education with Avaya IP Office

07-21-2004
  • Avaya IP Office effectively supports tele-education with IP-based conferencing features; IP-based infrastructure enables the Center to reduce costs and enhance education services

The Korea Leadership Center, an education and training institute for businesses, is using an IP telephony system supplied by a local BusinessPartner of Avaya Korea Ltd. to improve the effectiveness and reach of its corporate education programs.

The Korea Leadership Center, an education and training institute for businesses, is using an IP telephony system supplied by a local BusinessPartner of Avaya Korea Ltd., the Korean subsidiary of Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, to improve the effectiveness and reach of its corporate education programs.

A Korean partner of U.S. FranklinCovey Co., the Korea Leadership Center is a professional training center that provides business executives and employees with various education programs including a workshop on 'the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People' and other courses. The Korea Leadership Center introduced Avaya IP Office to improve the effectiveness and reach of its corporate education programs, and expects to coach 100 people nationwide each week, using the IP Office-based conferencing feature for its corporate tele-education program.

IP telephony is a communications technology that meets today's business needs, enabling effective collaboration between users over an IP network. Through IP telephony, companies can enjoy benefits such as mobility, cost-savings, productivity and business continuity.

The Avaya Small and Medium Business Solutions (SMBS) Group's BusinessPartners, Daesin Information Technology (www.daesin-it.net) and Daesin C&C (www.daesin21.co.kr), joined Avaya on the project. With the introduction of IP Office, the Korea Leadership Center no longer pays for conferencing service. Instead, the Center is now using the "Meet Me" conferencing feature of IP Office, which supports up to two, simultaneous 64-party conferences or multiple smaller conferences, while benefiting from cost saving and training effectiveness. In addition, the IP-based infrastructure reduces time and costs required to maintain and expand/upgrade the IP-based network in the future, as it supports centralized management and high scalability.

Bum-Jin Kim, coaching manager of the Korea Leadership Center, said, "We realized the need for high-quality customized education programs for CEOs and managers who have busy working schedules, and decided to offer various tele-education programs." He added, "To run this program, we needed a more cost-effective communication solution. Avaya IP Office received high scores on scalability and system performance, including conferencing, user authentication, automatic response, and meeting minute recording."

"The introduction of the Avaya solution eliminated the cost of subscribing to our service provider's conferencing service, which cost US$200-300 per month for a single program," Kim said. With reduced financial burden, Korea Leadership Center has increased the number of tele-education programs from one to five per month. Enhanced features including automatic dialing, Windows-based management application as well as high voice quality and reliability have also increased the effectiveness of its remote education.

With a plan to expand its business area to customized on-line education in the long term, the Center plans to build a contact center for customer services in the future based on the contact center functions of Avaya IP Office.

Avaya IP Office is an "all-in-one" IP telephony solution designed to deliver converged voice and data communications solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. Avaya IP Office offers a variety of business-enhancing features including unified messaging, voice mail, conferencing, contact center capabilities, support for remote workers and other features that are usually available only with larger, more complex systems that typically cost more.

Hyung Sub, Kim, president of Daesin Information Technology, an Avaya BusinessPartner, said, "Following the example of large enterprises, many small and medium businesses are now introducing IP telephony. Avaya IP Office is the ideal "all-in-one" solution for small and medium businesses that are looking for a cost-effective solution that allows them to achieve business results with a high return on investment and lower total cost of ownership."
