Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services today announced the appointment of Dinesh Malkani as its Vice President of the Advanced Solutions & Technology Group based in Singapore. Malkani reports to Mark Leigh, Avaya's President for Asia Pacific.

With 14 years of extensive industry experience and having worked across all major APAC markets, Malkani was previously the Country Manager for Avaya Korea. Under his leadership and with strong business acumen, the business grew over 35%. Before Korea, Malkani was Regional Director for the Solutions & Applications group for Avaya in ASEAN and India.

In his new role, Malkani will be responsible for the Advanced Solutions group (ASG), and has been tasked with proliferating and extending Avaya's penetration in specific areas identified as high growth initiatives for the company in the Asia Pacific region. These include evangelizing and further strengthening Avaya's lead in the contact Center and IP Convergence applications market. Additionally, Malkani will play a key role in managing the relationships with Avaya's strategic alliance partners to bring business communications applications to the market. Avaya's partners include Extreme Networks, Juniper, Nokia and Polycom & Meru networks.

In addition, Malkani will also be tasked with growing Avaya's Hosted solutions business which covers both Hosted Contact Center and Hosted IP Telephony solutions. Hosted solutions for Service Providers has been identified by Avaya as an investment area in Asia Pacific. "We are pleased to have Dinesh joining us back in Singapore," said Mark Leigh, President of Avaya Asia Pacific. "Dinesh's right complement of experience and intimate knowledge of Asia Pacific will help us realize our vision to further grow our leadership position in IP Telephony & Contact Centre and hot new areas' such as enterprise mobility. Also in Asia Pacific, he will head the Vertical Solutions team into the new and expanded market segments we have our eyes on in 2006."
