Avaya IP Telephony Solution Slashes 80-90 Per cent in Call Costsfor SME Moving Menus

05-13-2005

As testament to the strength and affordability of its IP telephony offering for small-to-medium sized enterprises, Avaya Inc. announced that Moving Menus has deployed Avaya's small business IP telephony application suite to network its Melbourne call centre with its Sydney operations in a bold move that has instantly generated cost savings for the company. As testament to the strength and affordability of its IP telephony offering for small-to-medium sized enterprises, Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, today announced that Moving Menus, Australia's largest restaurant delivery service, has deployed Avaya's small business IP telephony application suite to network its Melbourne call centre with its Sydney operations in a bold move that has instantly generated cost savings for the company.

The Avaya IP Office application suite includes a module that builds an IP Virtual Private Network (VPN) between the Sydney and Melbourne operations. Calls from Sydney which are routed to the Melbourne call centre via new VoIP technology now travel as local calls, reducing inbound call costs by 80-90 per cent. Designed specifically to meet the unique communications challenges facing small and medium sized businesses, the Avaya IP Office application suite is an all-in-one solution architected to scale as companies like Moving Menus expand and grow.

Deployed across 30 extensions in Melbourne and 10 in Sydney, the new IP Telephony network is helping Moving Menus achieve new efficiencies and smoother business processes. For example, the company usually handles up to 700 customer calls per night from either Sydney or Melbourne on its 1300 telephone number. Although all initial calls, regardless of origin, are routed to Melbourne, customers calling from Sydney only incur a local call cost. This enables staff at the Sydney call centre to handle follow-up inquiries and administrative issues.

"As Australia's largest restaurant delivery service, the phone is our most mission critical tool and our largest cost," said Michael Campbell, Moving Menu Managing Director. "By making a move to IP Telephony we have at once slashed costs and increased efficiency through the added functionality IP Office provides. Its been like taking a magic wand to our most important business problems - they've just gone away!"

The Avaya IP Office solution, recommended and implemented by Avaya's Business Partner GlobalTalk, provides real-time network visibility between the two operations, meaning all orders can be viewed by both call centres. Call monitoring and reporting also allows call centre management to monitor efficiency and design work practices accordingly.

The Avaya IP Office platform is a modular and scalable all-in-one IP telephony solution designed for the small business market. It includes support at the PABX for auto attendant, voicemail, broadband access, wireless access and VPN tunnelling to provide much smarter call management combined with data convergence.

GlobalTalk is an Avaya-approved Business Partner operating across the eastern seaboard of Australia as a communications partner providing value-added solutions to companies of all sizes, in the role as outsourced telecommunications department to companies keen to focus on their own core business objectives.
