Avaya Japan Appoints Katsumi Fujii As Managing Director


Avaya announced the appointment of Katsumi Fujii as managing director for Avaya in Japan.

Avaya Inc., (NYSE:AV) a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, today announced the appointment of Katsumi Fujii as managing director for Avaya in Japan. Fujii is responsible for driving Avaya sales and managing business operations in Japan. He is based in Japan and reports to Mark Leigh, Avaya's president for Asia Pacific.


Commenting on the appointment, Leigh said, "Katsumi's experience working with Japanese and multinational companies in Japan, along with his breadth of industry relationships will be a great asset to Avaya as we bring intelligent communications* solutions to enterprises in Japan. One of Katsumi's top priorities will be to continue to boost growth in the enterprise telephony market. Because of our expertise and leadership in contact centers, we believe we are well positioned to support Japanese enterprises and our current customer base in Japan in their migration to IP Telephony for both the contact center and general office."


Fujii joins Avaya with more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Most recently, he was CEO and country senior officer for Alcatel Japan. During his four years with Alcatel, he played a key role in expanding their presence in Japan's service provider and enterprise markets.


Prior to Alcatel, Fujii was representative director and executive vice president of Nortel Networks Japan. He also spent a significant time at Mitsubishi Corporation including a 10 year assignment in the US. At Mitsubishi, he was general manager of the Telecommunication Business Unit.


Fujii, a Japanese national holds a bachelors degree in Science and Engineering from Waseda University, Japan.
