Avaya Joins with HP Services to Make IP Telephony Easy for Smalland Medium Businesses

05-13-2005

Avaya and HP joined forces to add HP Installation and Support Services to the capabilities of the Avaya Small & Medium Businesses (SMBS) reseller channel, providing an integrated IP Telephony solution for Small & Medium Businesses in Australia.Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, and HP today joined forces to add HP Installation and Support Services to the capabilities of the Avaya Small & Medium Businesses (SMBS) reseller channel, providing an integrated IP Telephony solution for Small & Medium Businesses in Australia.

The bundled communications solution will be made available through distributors and value added resellers (VAR) to enable SMBs to experience the benefits of IP Telephony, from simplified network management and increased productivity to reducing overall telephony costs.

"Businesses can make the move to IP Telephony with the confidence that they are buying a highly reliable system provided by a qualified reseller community, backed by the services expertise and coverage of HP," said Walter Labio, Business Development Director Asia Pacific & Japan for Avaya SMBS.

The partnership means the immediate availability of HP Installation and Support Services for Avaya's leading suite for SMBS IP Office. The support and services made available by HP as a result of the Avaya relationship will mean not only the migration process, but the ongoing support and maintenance, will be integrated through a single point of contact.

"The challenge for smaller businesses is how to introduce IP Telephony and its benefits, while controlling risks and costs," said Mark Wood, Sales Director Asia Pacific & Japan for Avaya's SME. "The selection, installation, integration and ongoing support of a converged IP Telephony system poses challenges for SMBs. Most SMBs don't have the internal IT capabilities of larger organisations, and mostly depend on the advice and support of resellers. This initiative is aimed at helping them minimise risks and control costs."

Avaya IP Office - which supports analogue, digital and IP Telephony - is a high performance telephony and data server, designed and built specifically to deliver huge benefits for SMBs. It provides integrated contact center capability and a host of other communication applications, including integration in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft CRM. The solution not only ensures cost savings by managing call traffic smartly - especially IP traffic - but also heightens productivity considerably by enabling time-saving applications.

From Caller ID and enhanced messaging capabilities on the entry-level Avaya PARTNER® ACS solution to the sophisticated call center capabilities that come with the Avaya™ IP Office Solution, every Avaya SMB solution is well-equipped to grow sales and enhance customer relationships and loyalty. The solutions are easily scalable from 2 to 200 employees to ensure it's the perfect support to rapidly growing smaller enterprises. With this additional support infrastructure provided by HP, SMEs can easily migrate to more sophisticated communications networks with peace of mind, allowing them to compete more effectively.

"The relationship with Avaya is an important part of HP's Smart Office initiative. HP Smart Office is focused on allowing SMBs to achieve better business results by providing them with more expertise, more reliability, and a better ownership experience. This announcement allows IP Telephony customers to achieve a better ownership experience so that they can remain focused on their core business," said Cyrus Pestonji, SMB Services Business Manager for HP South Pacific.
