Avaya Launches New Voice Services and Contact Center ManagementTraining and Certification Programs

Avaya announced two new management training and certification programs designed to give voice and contact center professionals the skills to strategically manage business communications applications and personnel as the technology shifts to an era of intelligent communications.Avaya Inc. The convergence of enterprise voice and data communications is transforming the way businesses operate and unlocking profound new value for customers, employees and shareholders. However, to be effective in a converged environment, managers and supervisors may need new skills that could range from learning a new lingo to navigating organizational, security and quality of service issues that are part and parcel of provisioning communications services over a data network. The two new training certification tracks - one for voice services managers and another for contact center managers address these challenges with courses specifically tailored to promote seamless adaptation and enhance the strategic value of these professionals in the changing technology landscape. "As companies converge their voice and data networks, supervisors are looking for guidance in how to manage a broad range of issues - from how to organize and align their data and telecom staffs to how to cross-train team members in voice and data skills," said Dan Gorski, director of global learning, Avaya. "We've designed our new certification programs to address such issues and to prepare managers to assume even higher levels of responsibility."

The new programs complement Avaya's existing technical certification programs and are comprised of courses specifically designed for managers. The new certifications include "associate" and "specialist" credentials in voice services and in contact centers. To achieve credentials at the associate level, participants pass a curriculum assessment and either an Avaya communications networking exam or the Convergence Technologies Professional exam administered by the Telecommunications Industry Association. At the specialist level, participants must hold the associate level credential and pass the specialist level exam in order to attain the credential. Avaya plans to launch an "expert" certification in both disciplines during 2006.

The new manager certification programs were designed by Avaya University, the company's training arm, with the support and guidance of member companies from the International Association of Avaya Users (InAAU). For convenience, both programs are largely self-paced, and coursework can be completed over the Web, in face-to-face classes at one of the Avaya global training centers or in a real-time virtual classroom.
