Avaya Presents New Flexible 'Pay-per-user' IP Telephony Services for Italian Business Sector


Avaya announced the availability of pay-per-user IP Telephony solutions, developed for the business market and offered for the first time in Italy.

Avaya (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of business communication applications, systems and services, today announced the availability of pay-per-user IP Telephony solutions, developed for the business market and offered for the first time in Italy. As a result of an agreement with Telecom Italia, businesses and enterprises in Italy will have the choice to benefit from IP Telephony services via flexible purchasing models enabling them to accurately predict associated costs and to lower their TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).


Avaya IP telephony services will be offered by Telecom Italia both in a fully hosted mode, on Telecom Italia's network platforms, as well as in a service managed mode on the customer's premises, with management and maintenance carried out by the Italian operator. The solutions, sold through an innovative pay-per-user model, based on a fixed rate per user, will enable costs to be calculated on the number of ports defined by the customer and billed on a monthly basis. The partnership between Avaya and Telecom Italia is primarily aimed at helping small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Italy to implement more efficient telecommunications infrastructures. Ninety-five percent of all Italy's businesses are categorized as SMBs, comprising less than ten employees.*

With the integration of Avaya's IP Telephony solutions within its platforms, Telecom Italia extends its portfolio, offering enterprise customers new, innovative and flexible voice, messaging and conferencing functionalities.


The agreement also calls for the development of joint sales and marketing activities to address market opportunities in IP Telephony, next generation services and network security market segments.
