To succeed in today's competitive global marketplace, businesses are adopting new intelligent communications applications to help them get more from their network infrastructure and drive greater collaboration among employees, customers and partners. Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, will address this growing trend at the Interop New York trade show with speaker presentations, new products and communications strategies that businesses can adopt to help improve their bottom line.

Scheduled for December 12-16 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, Interop New York is the inaugural Interop East Coast event, produced by MediaLive International. Avaya is an exhibitor and sponsor (Booth #837) of the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Collaboration portion of the InteropNet, the multivendor network providing communications services during Interop New York.

"Emerging technologies - from service-oriented architecture and Web services to peer-to-peer communications - will shape the future of business by enabling powerful new intelligent communications applications," said Ravi Sethi, president of Avaya Labs and a participating speaker at Interop. "Avaya works with a broad range of companies to accelerate adoption of these new technologies by developing open, standards-based solutions that transform business' existing multivendor networks, improve productivity and drive new collaborative benefits."

Avaya selected to provide IP voice services for multivendor show network

Avaya has been selected to provide IP telephony capabilities for InteropNet - the multivendor network providing critical communications services to exhibitors, conference sessions and meeting rooms during Interop New York. Avaya is the global market leader in IP telephony ¹ and recently won back-to-back awards from Miercom and Business Communications Review magazine for its IP telephony-based mobility and contact center reporting applications.

Avaya's solution for InteropNet is based on the company's industry-leading Communication Manager IP telephony software platform. Avaya Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Enablement Services will enable standards-based SIP endpoints for telephony, instant messaging, conferencing and collaboration. In addition, Avaya will broadcast Web content and messages to IP screen phones located across the convention center venue.

Free tours of InteropNet will be available throughout the exhibition.

Avaya unveils new IP solution, demonstrates new mobility applications

Avaya plans to unveil a new IP-based product at the show that will give businesses an additional choice for establishing secure, always-on communications for improved enterprise mobility and business continuity. The company also plans to demonstrate its latest mobility applications, including recently announced campus communications solutions jointly developed with Symbol Technologies for workers in retail, healthcare, manufacturing and other mobile industries. Avaya will showcase solutions featuring handheld devices from Motorola, Nokia and Research in Motion that extend intelligent enterprise communications capabilities to workers on the move.

Applications from members of the Avaya DeveloperConnection program will also be featured. DeveloperConnection is an initiative to promote the development, compliance-testing and co-marketing of innovative third-party products that are compatible with standards-based Avaya solutions. Member organizations have expertise in a broad range of technologies that help companies extend the value of their existing multivendor networks.
