Avaya to Show How Companies Are Using IP Telephony To Gain Valuefrom Communications at Telexpo 2005

During presentations and demonstrations at Telexpo 2005,executives from Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider ofbusiness communications software, systems and services, willaddress how companies can meet these challenges by embeddingcommunications into the heart of their business.

Avaya will use Telexpo to highlight new initiatives promotinginnovation in IP telephony, mobility and contact centers, as wellas new services that can help companies get top performance fromtheir IP telephony solutions and make their people more productive,their processes more intelligent and their customers moresatisfied. Scheduled for March 1-4 at Expo Center Norte in SaoPaulo, Telexpo is the leading telecommunications tradeshow andconference in Brazil.

The growth of the IP Telephony solutions market continuesunabated. It is estimated that sales of enterprise IP Telephonyequipment will surpass those of traditional telephony in 2005.Research from market analyst firm Frost & Sullivan estimates a165% growth in the Brazilian IP Telephony market within the nextfive years. Many companies are moving to IP Telephony to benefitfrom the reduction of costs, increased mobility and networkunification.

IP telephony is software-based technology that uses Voice overthe Internet Protocol (VoIP) to transmit voice as data over acomputer network. Businesses are adopting this rapidly emergingtechnology — which includes features such as callforwarding, conferencing, voice messaging and other applications— to enhance the capability of their communicationnetwork and reduce costs.

That same day, at 4:30 p.m., in Room 1, Avaya Brasil Solutionsmanager Fernando Lucato, will participate in the panel"Demystifying VOIP and IP Telephony" and address themes related toVoIP applications in the convergence of products and services, andfactors that affect the adoption of IP Telephony.
