Coamo Implements IP Telephony Solution from Avaya to Connect Peopleand Processes at 90 Locations Throughout Brazil

Avaya Inc. announced that the Coamo, Cooperativa AgropecuáriaMouraoense, has installed an IP Telephony solution that connects 90offices and an industrial park throughout Brazil, including Coamo'sheadquarters in Campo Mourao.Avaya Inc. (NYSE: AV) a leading global provider of communications applications, systems and services for businesses, today announced that the Coamo, Cooperativa Agropecuária Mouraoense [Agricultural and Livestock Co-operative Society of Campo Mourão], has installed an IP Telephony solution that connects 90 offices and an industrial park throughout Brazil, including Coamo's headquarters in Campo Mourão. Coamo, an Avaya customer since 2002, upgraded its communications network by installing 68 Avaya IP Office units, the largest implementation of its kind in Brazil, for sophisticated voice and data network capabilities, increased flexibility and reduced costs.

Avaya provides communication solutions and services that customers such as Coamo can use to integrate intelligent communications into core business processes, helping companies derive greater value from their communications infrastructure by making people more productive, processes more intelligent.

"We were seeking a competitive solution that would enable the migration to IP Telephony, while allowing us to use our existing equipment," said Francisco Covessi Junior, head of the Technical Support Department of Coamo.

IP Telephony is software-based technology that uses the voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to transmit voice over a data network. Businesses of all sizes are adopting this rapidly emerging technology which includes features such as call forwarding, conferencing, voice messaging and other applications to enhance the capability of their communications network and reduce costs.

The company installed Avaya IP Office solution, a full-featured, all-in-one voice and data communication system designed for small and mid-sized companies and for branch offices of larger firms, and Avaya Communication Manager, the company's IP telephony software platform which is a core part of the MultiVantage™ suite Communications Applications.

IP Office delivers converged voice and data; analog, digital and IP telephony, in addition to traditional PABX applications - Voice Mail, Automated Attendant System, as well as Unified Communication, Contact Center and CRM applications.

"This solution enables Coamo to make calls between our 90 branch offices by dialing only the extension number, which significantly reduced our expenses," said Covessi. Another benefit of using IP Office at Coamo is the possibility to manage all 90 sites directly from a central location.

"We were already users of convergence technology. The association with Avaya is extremely important for Coamo since they met all of our requirements to update our network to meet our business communication needs," said Antônio Satoshi Shima, IT manager of Coamo.

Coamo plans to replace the entire PABX network of the company with Avaya IP equipment in the next few years. "IP Telephony has already showed us all the benefits of its applications and capabilities including flexibility, mobility and cost reduction. Our goal is to continue the migration of all the company's equipment to IP Telephony," said Covessi.
