Six Avaya Development Partners Earn 2004 Developer

01-04-2005

Avaya announced that six of its third-party development partners have been honored with 2004 Avaya Developer

Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications software, systems and services, today announced that six of its third-party development partners have been honored with 2004 Avaya DeveloperConnection Leadership Awards. The annual awards recognize outstanding members of the Avaya DeveloperConnection (DevConnect) Program - an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology to serve customer needs.

Interoperable solutions based on open standards allow businesses to add best-in-breed capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure. Interoperability speeds deployment of new applications and reduces both network complexity and implementation costs.

"An active developer community working within open, industry standards drives innovation and allows us to provide customers with simple, interoperable solutions to their most complex business challenges," said Anna Dorcey, director, Avaya DevConnect Program. "The six companies honored with 2004 DevConnect Leadership Awards are among hundreds of firms from around the globe that work with Avaya to test and certify solutions for seamless operation when they are deployed in the field."

Avaya named RedSky Technologies Inc., a software and services provider based in Chicago, Ill., its "Avaya DevConnect Member of the Year." The award recognizes RedSky for driving significant new revenue through the development and sale of emergency onsite notification systems and e911 solutions. Both interoperate with industry-leading Avaya Communication Manager Internet protocol (IP) telephony software, which transmits voice and all of the functions of a telephone network as data over a computer network in a manner similar to email. Enterprises are rapidly adopting this technology, which enables organizations to easily integrate advanced features such as conferencing, voice messaging, call forwarding and other applications that cost-effectively enhance communications networks.

"We are thankful for a strong alliance program like DevConnect that allows us to build and certify elegant software solutions that are tightly integrated with Avaya," said Tony Maier, CEO of RedSky Technologies. "Customers now know they are getting a world-class application that can be quickly and cost-effectively deployed to extend the capabilities of their Avaya network."

Five DevConnect members were honored with "2004 Sale of the Year" awards for their support of a major Avaya customer win in the hospitality sector. Honored were:

Citrix Gateways (formerly Net6) of San Jose, Calif., for an application gateway that can deploy and manage multiple applications across a broad range of devices. As a result, the customer can use Avaya IP screen phones and wireless devices as a cost-effective alternative to PCs and computer terminals.

Extreme Networks of Santa Clara, Calif., for its open, standards-based networking and switching gear, which offer the customer a single, scalable solution for ubiquitous access, end-to-end management and mobility.

Juniper Networks of Sunnyvale, Calif., for a comprehensive network security solution specifically tailored to the customer's needs.

Nice Systems of New York City and Tel Aviv, Israel, for its NiceLog digital recording solution, which enables continuous, high-quality digital recording and archiving of telephone conversations traveling over an Avaya communication network.

System Development Company of New Hampshire Inc., which provided the customer with its IntelliDESK PC-based attendant console to facilitate multiple search criteria and paging through an easy-to-use interface.
