Avaya Appoints Roger Gaston Senior Vice President Human Resources


Roger Gaston has been appointed senior vice president, Human Resources for Avaya. 

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – Roger Gaston has been appointed senior vice president, Human Resources for Avaya (NYSE:AV). Gaston, who will have responsibility for Avaya's global human resources, joins Avaya from Kenexa Corporation, a leading provider of talent acquisition and retention solutions, where he was executive vice president for the Employment Process Outsourcing (EPO) practice, leading EPO operations worldwide with an instrumental role in business development. He will be based in Basking Ridge, NJ, and report to Don Peterson, chairman and CEO, Avaya. Gaston's appointment is effective May 15, 2006. Avaya is a leading global provider of business communication applications, systems and services.


Prior to Kenexa, Gaston was corporate vice president, Human Resources for StorageTek, a $2 billion technology leader delivering a broad range of storage solutions for digitized data. In this role, he led a global Human Resources organization focused on transforming the business into a global storage services and solutions leader. In addition, he directed a global learning organization concentrating on technical, sales and leadership development for employees, partners and customers.
Previously, Gaston was the senior vice president of Human Resources for Toys “R” Us, an $11 billion retailer, where he was responsible for delivering programs and services for more than 70,000 employees worldwide. He has also worked for more than 11 years in senior human resources roles at The May Department Stores Company and held executive roles at Carson Pirie Scott, and Ahold Americas.


Gaston holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio.
