Avaya Launches New Support Tools for Software Developers

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – Software developers will benefit from today’s launch of new support tools that help them write Avaya-compatible software applications.  The new tools, announced today by Avaya (NYSE:AV), include training, technical support and software development kits and are available to registered members of the Avaya Developer Community, a technology incubator open to anyone who wants to create new features and applications compatible with Avaya communications solutions. 


The incubator provides an easy way to learn about technologies from Avaya, a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, access the company’s application programming interfaces, and obtain discounted pricing for certification training and products.  Membership is free to any business, organization or inpidual interested in developing Avaya-compatible software.


The new tools introduced today for members of the Avaya Developer Community include:


• Free online “developer zone”:  Avaya has launched a new “developer zone” to provide free online access to the company’s application programming interfaces, software development kits, sample code, protocols and Web services.  Among the first development tools available on the site is Avaya Dialog Designer, an open standards-based environment for building speech self-service applications, as well as a new online Dialog Designer forum to promote collaboration among developers.


• Free remote SIP access for testing:  Avaya now offers 30 days of free access to an online interoperability center where developers can test their phones, softphones and other SIP clients with the Avaya Converged Communications Server.


• Free training:  New courses are available for download, including in-depth training on Avaya Application Enablement Services (AES)—an open standards-based set of application programming interfaces, protocols and Web services that allows developers to access the full functionality of Avaya communication solutions.  Additional courses will be added in coming weeks and months, including training on developing Avaya-compatible phone and self-service applications.


• Free technical support:   For the first time members of the Avaya Developer Community will have free access to Avaya Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support as they develop new applications.  With a simple mouse click they can launch a live chat session to resolve questions in real time.

Avaya DeveloperConnection Program Achieves New Milestone
In addition to free membership in the Avaya Developer Community, Avaya offers even broader development support through paid membership in the Avaya DeveloperConnection program – an initiative to create, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology.  


Avaya recently achieved a new milestone when Jacada (NASDAQ: JCDA) became the 2000th company to join the program, which is open to software and hardware development companies, integrators, service providers and Avaya customers.
