The Frost & Sullivan Awards received by Avaya are:

2006 Enterprise Communication Applications Company of the Year
Frost & Sullivan is honoring Avaya for its achievements and leadership in North America telephony and messaging.  Avaya has "one of the industry’s broadest and most complete suites of voice messaging, unified messaging and unified communication solutions," researchers wrote.  They note that Avaya has consistently grown its market share in IP telephony and delivers the same security and high availability on a converged network that is inherent in legacy voice systems.  As a result, businesses deploying Avaya solutions can offer a central set of applications and extend functionality across their enterprise.

Continental Airlines uses Avaya IP telephony conferencing software and solutions, enabling dispersed departments, crews and many levels of management to quickly and easily set up teleconferences to cover maintenance issues, staff coordination, aircraft substitutions, flight scheduling, and weather-related impacts, all of which are discussed regularly.  Continental also cut its conferencing expenses in half with the Avaya solution.

2006 Contact Centers Company of the Year
Frost & Sullivan notes that Avaya is a leading provider of software, solutions and services for contact centers globally with an estimated seven million seats.  The firm's researchers say Avaya succeeds against formidable competitors through "an extremely well-rounded suite of contact center applications, incremental product enhancements geared toward addressing customer needs, and the strategic vision to define and move with broad industry trends.” They cite Avaya's continued innovation with SIP and other emerging technologies, as well as its ability to "judge the pulse of the customer."

Worldwide Market Leadership in Audio Conferencing Bridge Systems
Frost & Sullivan says Avaya's audio conferencing Award is underpinned by the company’s #1 market share in this space, strong customer relationships and success in integrating technology from its Spectel acquisition with its own IP telephony suite to create Avaya Meeting Exchange®.  This combined solution offers audio and Web conferencing, supports a variety of network protocols, integrates with industry-leading presence, instant messaging and Web conferencing solutions, and easily scales for small, medium or large implementations.

Market Leadership in Enterprise Voice and Unified Messaging
Frost & Sullivan recognizes Avaya for a #1 market position in North America for two consecutive years and for "one of the industry’s broadest and most complete suites of voice messaging, unified messaging and unified communications solutions."  Researchers attribute the company's success to the clear migration path it offers for businesses moving to its new portfolio and to the feature-rich, integrated and modular characteristics of Avaya's applications.

The Boston Red Sox group, whose Avaya IP telephony system gives Fenway Park-based employees and scouts on the road the same sophisticated messaging features.  Using Avaya Message Manager software, scouts can easily record a message on their laptop, including game information and player statistics, and share it with a group distribution list that reaches across their enterprise.

Competitive Strategy Leadership in Voice over Wireless LAN (VoWLAN)
Frost & Sullivan says Avaya is succeeding in the dynamic North American market for enterprise WiFi through its well-established industry partnerships with 'best of breed' companies, including SpectraLink, Motorola, Nokia, Symbol Technologies, Proxim and Meru Networks.  The report notes that Avaya uses VoWLAN technology to transparently extend business communications applications to mobile workers – securely and reliably – with centralized intelligence and control.

Condell Medical Center, an acute care facility near Chicago, has integrated Avaya IP wireless telephones with its existing nurse call system to improve responsiveness to patients.  When a patient presses the call assistance button, a text message is automatically displayed on the attending nurse's Avaya wireless handset.  Nurses immediately know assistance is needed, no matter where they are in the hospital.  Similarly, Condell staffers can send text messages to members of its Environmental Services team to let them know when a room needs to be cleaned or serviced.
