XTEND Communications Highlights the Benefits of Enhanced 911 Software during Avaya National Public Service Summit

  • Sponsors sixth-annual Avaya event focused on solutions for education, healthcare, and state and local governments; Helps America's largest private ambulance service use Intelligent Communications to accelerate emergency response times

At the Avaya National Public Services Summit in Las Vegas, XTEND will highlight how the company's intelligent workstation software helps public safety organizations improve response times and speed the delivery of critical emergency services to citizens.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - XTEND Communications Corp. will use an upcoming national summit focused on the needs of public service organizations to highlight how the company's intelligent workstation software helps public safety organizations improve response times and speed the delivery of critical emergency services to citizens. Designed to work with Intelligent Communications solutions from Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications applications, systems and services, the XTEND application will be featured at the Avaya National Public Services Summit this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

XTEND's pc/psap™ intelligent E911 workstation application is designed especially for public safety call centers. The solution uses the power of software to help those answering emergency calls quickly and accurately locate callers and dispatch the most appropriate resources when and where they are needed the most. An easy-to-use, standards-based graphical interface integrates the underlying phone system, database utilities, mapping systems and other resources in order to put critical information and tasks at a call taker's fingertips.
XTEND is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection program, an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology. The XTEND pc/psap application is compliance tested by Avaya for interoperability with Avaya Communication Manager, an industry-leading IP telephony application, as well as with Avaya IP Office, a secure and easy-to-use converged voice and data system for smaller organizations.

Powering critical emergency services for residents of two California counties
One of the emergency services organizations benefiting from the integration of XTEND and Avaya technology is American Medical Response (AMR), the nation's largest ambulance service provider. AMR selected an Avaya communication system to underpin its operations in Modesto, Calif., and to serve a new consolidated dispatch center providing 911 call handling services to 1.2 million residents of San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. With the integrated Avaya-XTEND solution in place, AMR now has a state-of-the-art emergency services center that can grow as the community grows.

"In the emergency services world, saving time can save lives," said Bill Schwartz, president and CEO of XTEND. "By working closely with Avaya to seamlessly integrate our workstation software with Avaya's open, standards-based communications applications, we are able to help organizations like AMR get more out of their communications investment. They can add new capabilities to their operations that help them serve the public more quickly and effectively."

Avaya National Public Services Summit
XTEND is a Silver sponsor of the Avaya National Public Services Summit, now in its sixth consecutive year.

"Our annual Public Services Summit helps us keep a sharp focus on the unique needs of public organizations," said Kevin Cook, vice president, North America, Avaya. "We're able to collaborate with partner companies to share tools and strategies and to drive a new generation of solutions that can help organizations improve service to their constituents and get more out of their communications investment."

The event attracts dozens of Avaya partner companies that extend the value of Avaya intelligent communications by providing targeted, communications solutions for government, education and healthcare.
