NEW YORK, N.Y. - XTEND Communications Corp. will use an upcoming national summit focused on the needs of public service organizations to highlight how the company's intelligent workstation software helps public safety organizations improve response times and speed the delivery of critical emergency services to citizens. Designed to work with Intelligent Communications solutions from Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of communications applications, systems and services, the XTEND application will be featured at the Avaya National Public Services Summit this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

 

XTEND's pc/psap™ intelligent E911 workstation application is designed especially for public safety call centers. The solution uses the power of software to help those answering emergency calls quickly and accurately locate callers and dispatch the most appropriate resources when and where they are needed the most. An easy-to-use, standards-based graphical interface integrates the underlying phone system, database utilities, mapping systems and other resources in order to put critical information and tasks at a call taker's fingertips.
 
XTEND is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection program, an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology. The XTEND pc/psap application is compliance tested by Avaya for interoperability with Avaya Communication Manager, an industry-leading IP telephony application, as well as with Avaya IP Office, a secure and easy-to-use converged voice and data system for smaller organizations.

 

Powering critical emergency services for residents of two California counties
One of the emergency services organizations benefiting from the integration of XTEND and Avaya technology is American Medical Response (AMR), the nation's largest ambulance service provider. AMR selected an Avaya communication system to underpin its operations in Modesto, Calif., and to serve a new consolidated dispatch center providing 911 call handling services to 1.2 million residents of San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. With the integrated Avaya-XTEND solution in place, AMR now has a state-of-the-art emergency services center that can grow as the community grows.
