  • New Japanese Lab is Critical Element in Global Expansion, Supports Japanese Partners and Customers

Avaya announced the opening of DevConnect Interoperability, Compliance and Testing Lab in Japan to support the continued growth of its DeveloperConnection Program.

TOKYO, Japan - Avaya Inc. (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, today announced the opening of a new lab, DevConnect Interoperability, Compliance and Testing Lab, in Japan to support the continued global growth of its highly successful DeveloperConnection Program. The new lab expands Avaya's network of DeveloperConnection labs around the world and reaffirms the company's commitment to customers in Japan.

Avaya DeveloperConnection is an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network. The new Avaya DeveloperConnection lab in Japan is one of five where member companies can compliance-test their solutions for Avaya interoperability, joining similar sites in the U.S., England, Germany and Singapore.

Avaya started the DeveloperConnection program in the U.S. in 2004 and now has more than 5,300 member companies worldwide, including more than 900 in the Asia/Pacific area. Members have created hundreds of innovative solutions tested for Avaya compliance, including natural language speech recognition applications, wireless services, specialized computer telephony integration and reporting capabilities, and applications tailored for specific vertical industries.

Avaya plans to display products from DeveloperConnection member companies in its booth at Interop Tokyo 2007, to be held June 13-15 at Makuhari Messe.

As a member of the DeveloperConnection program, companies have access to a wide range of support from Avaya, including technical resources and training. One example is Application Enablement Services (AES), which is a set of application programming interfaces, protocols and Web services that makes it easier for developers to create Avaya-compatible networks, devices and applications.

There are three levels of DeveloperConnection membership – Registered, Gold and Platinum – each entailing progressive levels of marketing and sales involvement. Free Registered membership is available to anyone interested in designing Avaya-compatible solutions. Gold-level members and Platinum members must meet rigorous Avaya criteria for customer satisfaction, product support, business operations, marketing and sales.

Among the many companies who are members of Avaya DeveloperConnection in Japan are: Alfacom, Ltd.; Artsoft Corporation; Hirakawa Hewtech Corp.; Hitachi Communication Technologies, Ltd.; In4S Inc.; P&W Solutions Co., Ltd; and Welltone Co., Ltd.
