  • SIP Security Controller application is compatible with key Avaya IP telephony solutions; Helps businesses like Datapoint implement SIP trunk services for their Avaya end-users

UM Labs, a leading developer of SIP Security Gateways, announced that both its RC-2100 and EC-4200 SIP Security Controller products are compliant with key IP telephony solutions from Avaya.

LONDON, UK - UM Labs, a leading developer of SIP Security Gateways, today announced that both its RC-2100 and EC-4200 SIP Security Controller products are compliant with key Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya, a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.

The SIP Security Controller helps businesses establish and secure VoIP connections, including connections to SIP trunks, to branch offices and to remote and roaming users. The application now is compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Communication Manager, SIP Enablement Services and IP Office.

Peter Cox, CEO of UM Labs commented, "Gaining Avaya compliance means that Avaya users can deploy a SIP Security Controller to provide additional security on external links such as SIP trunks. The SIP Security controller also provides a secure telephony service from roaming users enabling encrypted calls from hardware phones, soft phone and cell phone. Our ability to provide end-to-end encryption for cell phone calls into an Avaya telephony system is proving popular in the Government, Defence and Financial sectors."

One of the companies benefiting from the interoperability of UM Labs and Avaya solutions is Datapoint, a systems integrator for enterprise and call centre communications covering all related infrastructure and applications.

Chris Haggis, Datapoint's Head of Solutions Development commented, "We are pleased to partner with UM Labs, their SIP Security Controller provides cost effective method for linking our customer's Avaya systems to SIP services, and the ease of installation reduces the cost and risk of implementing trunk connections."

UM Labs is a member of the Avaya DevConnect program - an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company's investment in its network.

As a Gold member of the program, UM Labs is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab.  There, a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure - speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

"By participating in Avaya's compliance testing program and committing to open standards, development partners like UM Labs are helping businesses get more out of their network investment," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "Our customers are able to easily communications-enable critical business processes, change the way they work and uncover new value that can help them build their bottom line."
