Avaya announced that Shanghai East-China Computer Co. Ltd, is the first customer in the region to deploy the Avaya Flare® Experience and a total video conferencing solution.

BEIJING – Avaya, a global leader in business communications and collaboration solutions and services, announced today that Shanghai East-China Computer Co. Ltd, a leading provider of integrated IT solutions in China, is the first customer in the region to deploy the Avaya Flare® Experience and a total video conferencing solution to enhance collaboration and bring down travel costs.

The Avaya Flare Experience is the industry's first next-generation user experience that delivers unique collaboration capabilities across video, voice, text and social media.

Looking to increase operational efficiency across multiple locations and reduce increasing travel costs, Shanghai East-China Computer installed Avaya Video Conferencing Solution (AVCS) devices in its Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou offices. The solution includes the AVCS 1030 and 1040 systems for mid-to-large groups and conference rooms and supports convenient, efficient multi-party and multi-location video conferencing. For individual employees, the revolutionary Avaya Desktop Video Device with the Avaya Flare Experience allows executives to easily initiate two-way or multi-party voice and video calls with conferences by simply touching on the contact(s) desired and swiping them into the spotlight.

"Communications have become much more effective and much more fun with Avaya solutions," said Mr. Lin Jianmin, president of Shanghai East-China Computer. "Avaya video solutions perfectly meet our needs to enhance efficiency and cut travel costs, and does so at an affordable price. Compared to other solutions that we have reviewed, it is much easier to install and uses much less bandwidth. Video calls are now as convenient as voice calls, and we expect the video solutions to help us bring down travel expenses by 35 percent."

Shanghai East-China Computer has about 2,000 staff members throughout multiple locations, and internal collaboration and knowledge sharing has always been a challenge. With the high definition AVCS  1030 and 1040 systems, employees can now conveniently set up face-to-face video calls and simultaneously share  presentation and spreadsheet documents in real time. As a result, communication becomes more efficient, facilitating better decision making and faster response to market changes.

The company also adopted Avaya Videoconferencing Manager 6.0, which provides a wealth of management tools, including conference scheduling, configuration and monitoring accessible from Avaya Aura® System Manager.

Company executives now have instant access to desktop video calls and video conferencing with the Avaya Flare Experience. The Avaya Desktop Video Device has a ‘touch and swipe’ user interface, from which executives can easily set up calls, check messages, as well as schedule meetings and appointments. The Avaya Flare Experience also provides a aggregation of multiple directories – corporate, social, personal -- so that executives can easily contact the people with whom they wish to connect, and uses  presence and preference criteria to help them select the most effective method of communication – video, voice, instant message, email or social media.

"Video solutions used to seem formidable to many enterprises due to high costs of equipment and bandwidth, a poor user experience, and lack of integration with other applications and data sources," said John Wang, Managing Director, Greater China, Avaya. "Avaya video solutions have effectively addressed these concerns and have seen strong interest from customers throughout China. Shanghai East-China Computer is deriving concrete business value from this investment in terms of improved operational efficiency and better expense control."
